Privacy policy
This policy explains how Guardian Pest Control Pty Ltd trading as Guardian Building & Pest Inspections collects, uses, stores, and discloses personal information. It was last updated on 8 August 2026.
About this policy
This policy applies to clients, prospective clients, property owners, tenants, agents, builders, suppliers, and visitors to this website. It covers information collected through the website, quote requests, phone calls, email, inspections, pest management services, reports, invoices, and related business dealings.
Guardian aims to manage personal information consistently with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply. Some small businesses are exempt from parts of the Privacy Act. Guardian will still handle personal information responsibly, transparently, and only for legitimate business purposes.
Personal information Guardian may collect
Guardian may collect your name, phone number, email address, billing details, property address or location, preferred service and timing, access arrangements, correspondence, photographs, documents, report information, and other details reasonably needed to quote, schedule, perform, and administer a service.
The website and its service providers may also receive technical information such as an internet protocol address, browser and device information, pages requested, referral information, campaign parameters, advertising click identifiers, landing pages, phone link clicks, interaction events, timestamps, security events, and information associated with analytics or embedded content. Do not provide sensitive personal information unless Guardian requests it and it is reasonably necessary for the service.
How information is collected
Guardian usually collects information directly from you when you use the quote form, call, email, request a service, provide access information, or communicate about a property. Information may also be provided by a person acting with authority, such as a real estate agent, builder, body corporate, conveyancer, property manager, solicitor, strata manager, tenant, or property owner.
If you provide another person's information, you must have authority to do so and, where appropriate, tell that person about this policy.
How information is used
Guardian may use personal information to respond to enquiries, prepare quotes, confirm scope and access, schedule work, perform inspections or pest management services, prepare reports, issue invoices, provide follow up service, understand which marketing and referral sources produce enquiries, improve the website, manage complaints, maintain insurance and business records, protect website and business security, and comply with legal, regulatory, insurance, and safety obligations.
Guardian does not sell or rent personal information. Guardian will not use contact details for unrelated marketing without an appropriate basis and will provide a reasonable way to opt out of direct marketing.
Disclosure and service providers
Guardian may disclose information to technology, website hosting, communications, storage, automation, accounting, insurance, legal, and professional service providers where reasonably necessary. Enquiry details and associated campaign attribution may be processed by communications and automation services where those services are enabled so the enquiry can be recorded, attributed to the relevant source, and brought to our attention promptly.
Google Analytics processes website usage information to provide aggregated audience and performance reporting. Information may also be disclosed to people you authorise, parties involved in the property or service, emergency services, insurers, regulators, courts, or other parties where required or permitted by law. Some technology providers, including Google, may process information outside Australia and apply their own privacy terms.
Security and retention
Guardian takes reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, and disclosure. No internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Information is retained for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, to manage warranties or disputes, and to meet legal, insurance, tax, and record keeping requirements. When information is no longer required, Guardian will take reasonable steps to delete or deidentify it.
Access, correction, and complaints
You may contact info@guardianbpi.com.au to ask what personal information Guardian holds about you, request a correction, withdraw a consent where applicable, or make a privacy complaint. Guardian may need to verify your identity and may decline a request where permitted by law, but will explain the reason where required.
Guardian will aim to respond within a reasonable period. If the Privacy Act applies to the matter and you are not satisfied with the response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
